The scenic Appalachicola River.  Blountstown has long been
know as the "Halfway Point" along the river between the Jim
Woodruff Dam at Lake Seminole and the Gulf of Mexico.
Engine 444 of the M&B Railroad, which once ran a
daily route from Blountstown to Marianna, Florida
carrying lumber, textiles, farmed goods and
passengers.
BLOUNTSTOWN POLICE SWEAR IN NEWEST
OFFICER-
On Friday, December 18, 2009 Blountstown Police
Chief Glenn Kimbrel gave the Officer's Oath to BPD's
newest officer- Eddie Eagle. Third, Fourth and Fifth
Graders from Blountstown Elementary School stood as
witnesses as Officer Eddie Eagle pledged to uphold
the laws of the State of Florida as well as spread the
message of Firearms Safety to the young people of
our area.

TEACHES BICYCLE SAFETY-
SRO Warren Tanner spoke with students at
Blountstown Elementary School on Friday
about the dangers of ignoring some basic
bicycle safety rules.  SRO Tanner
Demonstrated proper techniques for seat
height adjustment, tire inflation and some
rules of the road.  Thanks to some generous
benefactors, BPD along with BES Staff were
able to have a prize drawing for several new
bicycles.  The winners are pictured at left.
