"We gathered
here this
morning to
commemorate
the attacks on
the World
Trade Center
and The
Pentagon.  
On that day
343
firefighters,,75
law
enforcement
officers and
nearly 3000
ordinary
Americans
perished in
the terrorist
attacks in
New York City
and
Washington,
D.C.  Each of
these
Americans
died in the
line of duty.
Whether they
were
emergency
responders
answering the
call for help or
they were
average
Americans
going about
their daily
routine
working,
playing or just
enjoying their
freedom as
Americans.  
We came
here today
because we
pledged we
would never
forget...."
